Using images from Photo awards
How can we use images from photo awards and what metadata do we add.
Images from photo competitions and their metadata
Restrictions on use generally apply to images from photo competitions such as the CEWE Photo Award.
Corresponding information is made available via new mandatory fields in the metadata, thus excluding any non-legally compliant use of these photos.
Important:
- We upload winning images as well as no winning images (e.g. for compositions) to CEWE MediaAssets.
- They need to be tagged with certain mandatory metadata.
- When downloading, the restriction details are actively displayed.
- For newsletters as well as other compositions only content from CEWE MediaAssets shall be used.
- Only for Social Media other content directly from the photo contest database can be used. As long as the images are available here, appropriate use is possible.
Where
The images can be found within the area Photo awards.
In the collection structure you will find images uploaded by Oldenburg. They are sorted by years and subjects. Here you can also upload directly to the appropriate collection.
If it is not necessary to have it in the collection structure (like in most other sites), you can do a normal upload to the asset pool using the upload file Photo awards.
New filter
In the metadata view of the asset you will now find a new filter / category called Photo award
Metadata
These information will be delivered with the upload as mandatory keywording:
- Winning image or no winning image needs to be defined
- The 7-digits ID from the photo award database
- Which photo award is the picture from
- What is the photo award category
- Image title
- Name of photographer
- Country of photographer
Restriction
When you download such an image you will be prompted with the usage restriction saying:
- Image can only be used in conjunction with this particular photo award
You need to display:
- Complete name of the photographer
- Title of the image
- Country of photographer
